Wedding Dress Alterations

Wedding Dress Alterations Will Make Your Dream Come True

Expectations from the Wedding Dress Alterations

Wedding Dress AlterationsIf you have found a wedding dress, but it does not fit perfectly yet, go to a professional seamstress. She will do the fittings, pinning the wedding dress to make sure that it fits well with you. During the wedding dress alterations, discuss all your wishes and needs. If you do not like something about what the seamstress is doing, you need to tell it to her. Otherwise, later it may be impossible to change or fix.

Most wedding dresses need at least some sort of alteration. The process usually requires time and money, depending on the fact how labour-intensive it is going to be.

Sometimes brides are afraid that their outfit may be spoiled. Moreover, of course, there is nothing worse than fixing somebody’s mistakes. It can turn into a nightmare. However, considering this fact, make sure to find the best seamstress for you. Believe that it is even better to pay more than to have some problems with your wedding dress alterations.

It is also very important to give your seamstress enough time to work on your wedding dress alterations. Especially if there are multiple things to be done, you really need an extra time. It usually takes six to eight weeks. So make an appointment with a seamstress beforehand.

Mind that even the simplest alteration takes time. Wedding gowns usually have so many complex details, from boning to hems and finishing as well.

So, the options for alterations are really numerous. So most seamstresses, who work on wedding dresses, know about it everything. They can offer lots of possibilities for the brides, meeting all of their requests. Sometimes they can even redesign a bridal gown. So finally, after a complex and time-consuming work of a seamstress, a happy bride will get a wedding dress of her dream.

It is really important that you need to make an appointment with your dressmaker as soon as possible. It will give you enough time to take all the details into consideration.

Get Ready for the Fitting

Wedding Dress AlterationsIf you find a real professional, then you will not have to worry about anything. Be sure that you will get exactly what you expect. The wedding dress will sit just perfect because a seamstress will consider the peculiarities of your figure:

1. Full adjustment of the corset, highlighting the curves of your waist and chest;
2. Sewing of bra cups with push-up effect will make your bust look natural. At the same time, it will give the corset a more rounded shape;
3. Adjusting the length of the dress, depending on the heel height of the shoes.

The first thing you need to bring for the wedding dress alteration session is the actual undergarments you are going to wear on your wedding day. Every type of bra that you wear under your gown may look completely different. Mind that if you change the bra, then after the alterations, your wedding dress may be either too small or too big. The bra changes the way that the bust fits the gown.

So, when you come for the alterations, take your undergarments, shoes, as well as other accessories. However, if you do not have your wedding shoes yet, take the other shoes with the similar height of heel that you plan on wearing. A seamstress will mark your dress, considering the height of your shoes. Make sure to buy definitely the same heel height shoes to have a bridal gown of a proper fit and length. Otherwise, your wedding dress will be too long, or too short.

So, dear brides, there is no need to worry about your wedding dress alterations. But make sure to entrust this work for the true professionals.

Sizing Guide

Dresses standard length is 120 cm /48 inch/ from the waistline to the floor.

We always recommend having a professional take all of your measurements. For the most accurate measurements, don’t measure over your clothing. Your dress size measurements should be taken while wearing undergarments similar to the ones you will wear with your dress. The measuring tape shouldn’t be pulled too tight or have too much slack, and should always be parallel to the floor.

Bust: Place the measuring tape across your nipples and measure around the largest part of your chest. Be sure to keep the tape parallel to the floor
Waist: Place the measuring tape about a 1/2 inch above your bellybutton (at the narrowest part of your waist) to measure around your torso. When measuring your waist, exhale and measure before inhaling again.
Hips: Place the measuring tape across the widest part of your hips/buttocks and measure all the way around while keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

All dresses on our website can be custom made to exact measurements if you provide us with your custom sizes. If you decide to order standard size, you may use the following charts to map your measurements to the closest size to be ordered. If your measurements indicate one size for the “bust” and a different size for the “waist and/or hips”, we suggest ordering according to the largest measurement. Dresses can easily be taken in by a skilled tailor or professional seamstress.
